What is included in the Ourika quad biking day from Marrakech?
The day includes the private vehicle with fuel and driver, pickup and drop-off at your hotel or riad in Marrakech, and a quad session with the quad, helmet, briefing and instructor provided by the partner base. Time in the Ourika Valley follows the ride. Meals, the optional local guide for the waterfalls and tips are not included.
Is quad biking near the Ourika Valley suitable for beginners?
Yes, no experience is needed: the partner base gives a briefing, an instructor rides with the group and beginners go at an easy pace on dirt tracks between palm trees and dry riverbeds. The day suits friends, couples and families with teenagers; it is not the right day for very young children, and everyone's age is checked against the base's rules at booking.
Where and when does the Ourika quad ride take place?
The ride takes place all year at a partner base in the foothills and palm grove on the Marrakech side of the Ourika Valley, not in the steep, farmed mountain part. The base is on the way to the valley. The tracks are dusty in summer, so bring sunglasses and a scarf. Pickup is in the morning, return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
Quad biking in the Ourika Valley takes place at the foot of the mountains, on the Marrakech side of the valley, in the foothills and palm grove area. Our quad day is private and combines two things: a quad session at a partner base, then time in the Ourika Valley with your driver. The base provides the quad, the helmet and a briefing, and an instructor rides with the group on dirt tracks between palm trees and dry riverbeds. Beginners are welcome and ride at an easy pace. The day costs 120 EUR per vehicle for 1 to 7 people, or 200 EUR for 8 to 17, plus 30 EUR per person for the quad session: two people pay 180 EUR in all. It is booked online with a 50% deposit, and it runs all year.
Travellers often ask us for "quad in the Ourika" and imagine riding along the river. This page explains where the ride really happens and how the day is organised.
Where do you ride?
Not in the mountain part of the valley. Above Tnine Ourika the slopes are steep, the land is farmed in terraces and the road is the only way through. The quad bases are lower down, where the plain meets the first hills: open ground, palm trees, dry riverbeds and dirt tracks. That is where our partner base is, and it is on the way to the valley, so nothing is lost in driving.

How does the day go?
- Pickup at your hotel or riad in Marrakech in the morning.
- Drive towards the Ourika road and the quad base.
- Briefing, helmets, and the ride with the instructor.
- Drive up the valley: villages, a cooperative if you wish, lunch by the river.
- Setti Fatma and, if you have the legs, the walk to the first waterfall.
- Return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
If you only want the ride and a shorter day, tell us: the valley part can be reduced.
Who is it for?
Friends, couples and families with teenagers who want some action along with the landscapes. It is less suited to travellers looking for a quiet day, for whom the walk and lunch with a Berber family is a better choice, and it is not the right day for very young children. Tell us the ages of everyone in your group when you book, so we can check the rules of the base for younger riders. Our guide to the Ourika Valley with kids lists calmer ideas.
What should you wear and bring?
- Closed shoes and long trousers.
- Sunglasses and a scarf to cover your nose and mouth: the tracks are dusty, above all in summer.
- Clothes you do not mind getting dusty, and a change of top for lunch.
- Sun protection and water.
- Your phone in a closed pocket.
Quad in the Ourika or in the Agafay desert?
Both exist. The Ourika quad day pairs the ride with a green mountain valley. The Agafay desert, south-west of Marrakech, offers bare stony hills and wide views; on our Ourika + Agafay day, the quad there is an option at 35 EUR per person. If the ride is the main point of your day, choose Agafay for the scenery of the ride itself; if you want the valley and a taste of quad, choose this day.
Our other packages add a camel ride, a family lunch or the Oukaïmeden plateau to the valley, and our private day trip covers the valley alone. For a ride in the stone desert itself, see quad biking in the Agafay desert.

Can children ride a quad?
It depends on their age and on the rules of the base. Tell us the ages of everyone in your group when you book, so we can check the rules for younger riders before you pay.

Closed shoes, long trousers, sunglasses and a scarf to cover your face: the tracks are dusty, especially in summer. Clothes you do not mind getting dusty. The helmet is provided.
