Private transport with driver between Marrakech and the Ourika Valley

We drive you in a private car or minivan from your hotel, riad or the airport in Marrakech to any point of the Ourika Valley: Tnine Ourika, Aghbalou, Setti Fatma or your lodge. One way, or return with the driver waiting, on your own schedule. About 1 hour to 1 hour 30 to Setti Fatma.

Our drivers live in and around the valley and make this drive almost every day. A private transfer is the simplest way to reach the Ourika Valley when you want to keep your own rhythm: no meeting point, no strangers to wait for, and a vehicle that goes exactly where you are going.

Where we pick you up and where we take you

We collect you at your hotel, riad or holiday rental anywhere in Marrakech, including the Palmeraie, Hivernage, Gueliz and the road to the airport. If your riad is inside the medina, the pickup point is the nearest place a vehicle can reach, as close to your door as possible. Airport pickups at Marrakech Menara are possible on request, which is handy if you are going straight to a lodge in the valley after your flight.

In the valley we drive to any point on the road:

• Tnine Ourika, the small town at the entrance of the valley, about 30 km from Marrakech, known for its Monday souk.
• Aghbalou, where the road to Oukaïmeden branches off, and where several guesthouses stand along the river.
• Setti Fatma, the last village on the road at about 1,500 m, starting point of the walk to the waterfalls of Setti Fatma.
• Your lodge, gîte or restaurant, wherever it is on the valley road. Some places sit up a short track: send us the name or a map pin and we check access before the day.

One way or return with waiting time

One way is for travellers moving into a lodge in the valley, or coming back to Marrakech after a stay. We carry your luggage and drop you at the door (or at the end of the track).

Return with waiting time is the most popular choice for day visitors. The driver takes you up in the morning, waits in the valley while you walk, eat and explore, then drives you back to your hotel. You decide the departure time and roughly how long you want to stay. A typical day at Setti Fatma, with the walk to the first waterfalls and lunch by the river, fills most of the day, so plan a morning start.

You can also combine places: a stop at the Anima Garden on the way up, an argan oil cooperative run by women, a potter's workshop, then Setti Fatma. Tell us your wishes when you send the request so we can check that the timing works.

Vehicles

We use two kinds of vehicles, both private to your group:

• A car for couples and small groups travelling light.
• A minivan for families, groups of friends, or anyone with bulky luggage, pushchairs or hiking gear.

We choose the vehicle once we know how many you are and what you carry, so please mention suitcases and any large items in your request.

Private transfer or guided day trip?

A private transfer is transport: a driver who knows the road and the villages, who can recommend a restaurant or a stop, but who does not guide you on foot. At Setti Fatma, the walk to the waterfalls is rocky and involves some scrambling; many visitors hire one of the local guides in the village, and we can arrange one for you.

If you would rather have everything organised (the driver, a local guide in the valley, the cooperative visit and the walk to the falls), our Ourika Valley day trip is a private tour with a fixed price per person that you pay online. If budget is the priority and you do not mind a fixed schedule, our shared excursion costs 25 EUR per person with lunch and return transport included.

Practical tips from our drivers

• Start early in summer. In July and August, afternoon thunderstorms can build over the mountains. Our drivers watch the sky and the river, and we may suggest leaving the riverbank earlier if a storm is coming.
• Weekends are busier. Families from Marrakech come up to the river on Saturdays and Sundays and on public holidays. The road near Setti Fatma is slower, and parking fills. A weekday is calmer.
• Bring cash. Riverside restaurants, guides in Setti Fatma and small shops generally work in cash (dirhams), so take enough with you from Marrakech.
• Wear real shoes if you plan to walk to the falls. Sandals slip on wet rock.
• Keep your driver's number. He shares his WhatsApp at pickup, so you can tell him when you are ready to go down.
