Brahim is a local guide in the Ourika Valley and one of the two guides of our team who write for this site. His subject is the valley as a place where people live and work, beyond the landscape.
What he writes about
Brahim signs our pages on the history of the valley, its inhabitants and Amazigh culture and Berber food. He also wrote our guides to the local crafts: argan oil, pottery and rugs. Two places to visit are his as well, the Ecomusée Berbère and the aromatic garden, together with the page that ties all of this into one route, cooperatives and villages. Finally, he signs our guide to responsible travel in the valley: how to buy fairly, when to ask before a photo, what a visit leaves behind.
How the facts are checked
Dates and figures on his pages come from published sources, which are listed at the end of the articles. When sources disagree, the page says so and does not pick the most striking number. For crafts and daily life, he asks the people concerned before describing their work. A page about a cooperative or a workshop should be one its members would recognise.
Visit with him
Brahim is one of our four guides, and you can ask for him by name. The days closest to his pages are the cooperatives and villages tour, the trek and lunch with a Berber family and the cooking class in a family home. The first two are booked and paid online (120 EUR per vehicle for 1 to 7 people for the tour, 60 EUR per person for the trek and lunch); the cooking class is booked by request, and we answer the same day by email or WhatsApp. Write his name in your booking or your request, with the language you need, and we confirm who is available on your date.
Articles and visits
Brahim is presented with the rest of the team on the page our guides, which explains what a local guide adds in the valley and how to book one. His articles are listed below.
