How much does an Ourika Valley trip cost in 2026? Every way to go, every cost on the day

A day in the Ourika Valley from Marrakech costs from about 20 EUR for two people by shared grand taxi to 140 EUR or more per vehicle for a private day with a driver and a waterfall guide. The difference is what you get for it, and what you still pay on the spot. Here is the full budget, way by way, with totals for 1, 2, 4 and 6 people.

Short answers

How much does a trip to the Ourika Valley cost?

It depends on how you go. By shared grand taxi, two people pay about 120 MAD return plus a waterfall guide, roughly 20 to 25 EUR before lunch. Shared group tours on marketplaces cost about 10 to 20 USD per person. A private day with us costs 140 EUR per vehicle for 1 to 2 people, 160 EUR for 3 to 4 and 190 EUR for 5 to 7, local guide included.

What is the cheapest way to visit the Ourika Valley?

For one or two travellers, the shared grand taxi is the cheapest way: a seat from Marrakech to Setti Fatma was reported at 30 MAD per person each way in July 2024. You wait until the six seats are full, find your own guide at Setti Fatma and organise lunch yourself. For a large group, a private vehicle shared between everyone brings the price per person close to that of a shared tour.

What is not included in an Ourika Valley tour price?

It depends on the seller, so check each listing. Lunch, drinks and tips are the usual extras, and on some tours the waterfall guide is paid on the spot too. Entries to Le Paradis du Safran (150 MAD), Anima Garden (140 MAD) or the bio-aromatic garden (35 MAD) are always extra. On our private day trip the waterfall guide is included; lunch is a 20 EUR per person option.

How much does a private Ourika Valley tour cost per person?

Our private day trip is priced per vehicle, so the cost per person falls as the group grows: 70 EUR each for two, 40 EUR each for four, about 32 EUR each for six and about 16.50 EUR each for seventeen, local guide included. Private tours on Viator were listed at about 74 to 108 USD per person in November 2026.

Is the Ourika Valley expensive?

Not by Marrakech standards. The valley itself is free to enter, and the main costs are transport, a guide for the waterfalls and lunch. A couple going on their own can spend under 30 EUR before lunch; a private day for four with lunch costs 240 EUR with us, 60 EUR each. The surprises come from unagreed prices at some riverside restaurants, so always ask first.

A day in the Ourika Valley from Marrakech can cost almost nothing or a few hundred euros, and both are honest prices: it depends on how you get there, who walks with you to the waterfalls and where you eat. The valley itself is free. You pay for transport (a shared grand taxi seat was reported at 30 MAD per person each way in 2024), a guide for the waterfalls if you want one (offers of 100 to 150 MAD), lunch, drinks and any garden or farm you visit. With us, the private day trip costs 140 EUR per vehicle for 1 to 2 people, 160 EUR for 3 to 4, 190 EUR for 5 to 7 and 280 EUR for 8 to 17, with the driver, pickup at your hotel or riad and the local waterfall guide included; lunch by the river is an option at 20 EUR per person.

We are a local operator, so we sell one of the options on this page. That is why we also say where we are not the cheapest. For one or two travellers on a budget, the grand taxi is cheaper than anything we sell, and we say so to the people who ask us.

A note on currency: in 2026 one euro is worth roughly 10.5 to 10.8 Moroccan dirhams at mid-market rates, and you will get a little less at a bureau de change. The euro figures we give for dirham prices are rounded, and are only there to help you compare.

How much does a day in the Ourika Valley cost, at a glance?

Here are the ways visitors usually go, from the cheapest to the most complete, with what each price covers. Market prices are ranges from listings observed in November 2026; ours are our published prices.

Way to go Price Transport Waterfall guide Lunch Pickup at your hotel
Shared grand taxi, on your own About 30 MAD per person each way (2024 report) Yes, leaves when the 6 seats are full No, offers of 100 to 150 MAD on the spot No No, you go to the taxi rank
Local bus, line 25 No reliable published fare To Tnine Ourika only, not Setti Fatma No No No
Shared group tour (marketplaces, local agencies) About 10 to 20 USD per person on marketplaces, about 13 to 17 EUR at local agencies Yes, shared with other travellers Varies by listing Varies, often extra Usually a meeting point or a pickup round
Private tour on GetYourGuide or Viator About 74 to 108 USD per person on Viator Yes, private Varies by listing Included on some listings (the higher prices) Usually
Private tour from a local agency's own website From about 25 EUR per person for large groups up to about 125 EUR for one person Yes, private Often included, sometimes extra Often extra, sometimes included Usually
Private day trip, booked direct with us 140 EUR per vehicle (1 to 2 people), 160 (3 to 4), 190 (5 to 7), 280 (8 to 17) Yes, private, 1 to 17 people Included Option, 20 EUR per person Yes, hotel or riad (medina: nearest point a car can reach)

Two things in this table matter more than the headline price. First, whether the price is per person or per vehicle: a per-person price looks small for one traveller and grows with the group, while a per-vehicle price does the opposite. Second, what is left to pay on the day. A cheap tour that leaves the guide and lunch to be paid in cash can end up at the same total as a more complete one.

How much does it cost to go on your own?

By shared grand taxi

Shared grand taxis are how most local families travel between Marrakech and the valley, and the cheapest way for independent travellers. They leave from a rank on the south side of the medina once all six seats are taken. Travellers on the Routard forum reported a fare of 30 MAD per person in July 2024; fares are fixed per seat for the route, but they do change over time, so check the price before you get in. Say "Setti Fatma" clearly, because "Ourika" can mean Tnine Ourika, at the entrance of the valley. Our guide to getting to the Ourika Valley explains where the taxis leave from and how they work.

The real price of the grand taxi is time and uncertainty rather than money. On a quiet morning you may wait for the car to fill. Some taxis stop at Tnine Ourika. For the return, shared taxis wait in Setti Fatma, but the last departures of the day are hard to predict. If your group fills the six seats, the taxi leaves at once.

You can also charter a grand taxi for the day. The price is negotiated with the driver, and we have not found a recent published figure we trust, so we give none. Agree the destination, the waiting time and the return time before you leave.

By local bus

The ALSA suburban line 25 runs from the edge of the medina to Tnine Ourika, at the entrance of the valley. It does not go up to Setti Fatma: from Tnine Ourika you continue by shared taxi or minibus. We could not find a recent, reliable published fare or timetable, so we do not quote one. It is cheap, but it only makes sense if you want to see the lower valley, for example the Monday souk.

The waterfall guide, if you go alone

A guide is not compulsory as far as the first waterfall, but the path is steep and rocky, and beyond the first fall a guide becomes necessary. Wikivoyage reports, without a date, that villagers offer to guide visitors to the first fall for 100 to 150 MAD; we found no official published rate. The same page advises ignoring the "numerous faux guides" and booking the official guides, whose office is on the main street, and also to ignore everyone who tries to show you where to park. In practice, young men wait at the village entrance and along the road, offering to "show you the waterfall". Some are fine, but none of them has to answer to anyone if something goes wrong. Agree the price, whether it is per person or per group, and the fall where you will turn back before you set off. More in our guide to the Setti Fatma waterfalls.

How much do tours cost, shared or private?

Shared group tours

Shared group tours are the cheapest organised option. In November 2026 we saw them listed at about 10 to 20 USD per person on marketplaces such as GetYourGuide, and at about 13 to 17 EUR per person on local agencies' own websites. You share a minibus with other travellers, usually after a pickup round or from a meeting point, and the programme and timing are fixed. Read each listing: some include lunch, some include the waterfall guide, others leave both to be paid on the day.

Private tours on GetYourGuide or Viator

Private tours sold on the marketplaces were listed on Viator at about 74 USD per person, and from about 108 USD per person for listings with lunch, in November 2026. GetYourGuide and Viator are legitimate, well-known platforms. They do not run the trips themselves: each listing is operated by a third-party local supplier, and the platform keeps a commission, which the trade publication Arival put in 2025 at about 20% to 30%. Their real advantages are reviews in one place and free cancellation up to 24 hours before on most listings, which is more flexible than ours. We explain the rest in why we recommend booking direct, so we do not repeat it here.

Private tours on local agencies' websites

Local agencies in Marrakech also sell private Ourika tours on their own websites, usually priced per person on a scale that falls with the size of the group. In November 2026 we saw prices from about 125 EUR for a single traveller down to about 25 EUR per person for large groups. On several of these pages, lunch was extra, paid at the restaurant, and on some the waterfall guide was extra too. One listing included lunch at about 66 EUR per person. Several asked for nothing online and took payment on the day.

What does a private day with us cost?

Every outing we run is private: the vehicle and driver are for your group only, and the price is per vehicle, not per person. Our private Ourika Valley day trip includes the vehicle and fuel, a driver who speaks French, English and Spanish, pickup and drop-off at your hotel or riad in Marrakech, a stop at a women's argan cooperative and the local guide for the waterfalls walk. The half day, which leaves at 8:00 am and is back around 1 pm, costs the same, guide included, with breakfast by the river as a 20 EUR per person option instead of lunch. Our saffron day and Jewish heritage day are priced the same way.

What the day trip does not include: lunch (an option at 20 EUR per person, added when you book), drinks, tips, the optional camel ride, garden entries and anything you buy.

If you only need a car and driver, our private transport costs 100 EUR one way from a Marrakech hotel, or 120 EUR for a same-day return with the driver waiting, per vehicle for 1 to 7 people, and 200 EUR for 8 to 17. It does not include a guide: you then pay a waterfall guide on the spot if you want one.

Our packages add a second experience: Ourika with a camel ride costs 120 EUR per vehicle for 1 to 7 people (200 EUR for 8 to 17) plus 15 EUR per person, and Ourika with a quad session costs the same vehicle price plus 30 EUR per person.

How payment works: you pay a 50% deposit online through PayPal, with a PayPal account or a bank card via PayPal, and the balance in cash to your driver on the day. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the trip, with the deposit refunded in full. All the rules are in our terms and conditions.

Lunch: the cost that varies most

Riverside lunch at Setti Fatma is the part of the budget we cannot give you as a single figure: menus are similar from one place to the next, but prices vary between restaurants and change over time, and we found no reliable published source. What we can tell you is the risk. In August 2025, the news site Bladi reported that a federation of local associations had complained about some cafés and restaurants on the riverbanks at Setti Fatma charging visitors up to 70 MAD per hour to sit by the water, 30 MAD for a pot of tea and 250 MAD for a tagine. These are not typical prices, but they show why you should ask to see the menu and the price of each dish, drinks and the table before you sit down. Our guide to food in the valley explains what to order. On our day trip, the 20 EUR per person lunch option settles the question in advance; only drinks remain to pay.

Cash, cards and fees

Take cash in dirhams, in small notes. Cash machines are rare beyond Tnine Ourika, so withdraw in Marrakech. Taxis, guides, cafés, parking attendants and small shops work in cash; Anima Garden is one of the few places that accepts cards. With us, the only payment fee is PayPal's, on the online deposit only: 4.4% of the amount paid online plus 0.35 EUR, shown before you pay. On a 140 EUR day trip, the deposit is 70 EUR and the fee about 3.43 EUR. The balance is paid in cash, with no fee.

What does a full day cost for 1, 2, 4 or 6 people?

This table adds up transport and a waterfall guide for the whole group, before lunch and drinks. Dirham amounts are converted at about 10.7 MAD to the euro and rounded. Marketplace prices are in US dollars, as listed.

Group Grand taxi + guide on the spot Shared group tour Private tour on Viator Private tour, local agency website Our private day trip (guide included)
1 person 160 to 210 MAD, about 15 to 20 EUR About 10 to 20 USD About 74 to 108 USD About 125 EUR 140 EUR
2 people 220 to 270 MAD, about 21 to 25 EUR About 20 to 40 USD About 148 to 216 USD About 132 to 150 EUR 140 EUR (70 each)
4 people 340 to 390 MAD, about 32 to 36 EUR About 40 to 80 USD About 296 to 432 USD About 220 to 264 EUR 160 EUR (40 each)

How to read it. The grand taxi line assumes 30 MAD per seat each way and one guide offer of 100 to 150 MAD for the group; if the guide asks per person, it costs more. Shared tours may or may not include the guide. On Viator we multiplied the per-person prices we saw, but some private listings lower the price per person for larger groups, so the figure for six is a ceiling. The highest Viator and local agency figures include lunch. Our column includes the guide but not lunch.

Worked examples: a couple, a family of four, a group of six

A couple

  • On your own by grand taxi: 4 seats at 30 MAD (120 MAD), a guide at 100 to 150 MAD, so 220 to 270 MAD, about 21 to 25 EUR, plus lunch, drinks and the petit taxi to the rank. Cheapest by far, if you do not mind waiting for the taxi to fill and organising the day yourselves.
  • Shared group tour: about 20 to 40 USD for the two of you on a marketplace, plus whatever the listing leaves to pay on the day (often lunch, sometimes the guide).
  • Private tour on Viator: about 148 to 216 USD, the higher end usually with lunch.
  • Private day trip with us: 140 EUR, guide included. With two lunches, 180 EUR, or 90 EUR each. Deposit online 90 EUR plus a PayPal fee of about 4.31 EUR; 90 EUR in cash to the driver.
  • Our private transport only: 120 EUR for a same-day return with the driver waiting, plus a guide on the spot if you want one, and lunch on your own.

For a couple, we are not the cheapest option. What the 140 EUR buys is a car to yourselves from your door, your own timing and a guide you do not have to find.

A family of four

  • On your own by grand taxi: 8 seats (240 MAD) and a guide (100 to 150 MAD): 340 to 390 MAD, about 32 to 36 EUR, plus lunch. Two seats in the taxi stay empty or are sold to strangers, and with children the wait and the return can be long.
  • Shared group tour: about 40 to 80 USD on a marketplace, plus extras.
  • Private tour on Viator: about 296 to 432 USD at the per-person prices we saw.
  • Private day trip with us: 160 EUR, 40 EUR each, guide included. With four lunches, 240 EUR, or 60 EUR each; deposit 120 EUR online (PayPal fee about 5.63 EUR), 120 EUR in cash on the day. Children count as people, at the same price; tell us their ages so we plan the walk. Our guide to the Ourika Valley with kids has more.
  • With a saffron farm stop: add 150 MAD per person at Le Paradis du Safran (closed Monday and Tuesday), paid on the spot. Check its policy on young children before you go.

A group of six

  • On your own by grand taxi: you fill a whole taxi, so it leaves at once: 12 seats (360 MAD) and a guide (100 to 150 MAD), 460 to 510 MAD, about 43 to 48 EUR, plus lunch.
  • Shared group tour: about 60 to 120 USD on a marketplace, plus extras.
  • Private tour from a local agency website: about 210 to 240 EUR at the per-person prices we saw for six, lunch extra, or about 400 EUR on a listing that included lunch.
  • Private day trip with us: 190 EUR, about 32 EUR each, guide included. With six lunches, 310 EUR, about 52 EUR each; deposit 155 EUR online (PayPal fee about 7.17 EUR), 155 EUR in cash on the day.
  • With a camel ride: our camel package costs 120 EUR for the vehicle plus 15 EUR per person, 210 EUR for six. See packages for what that day includes.

From five people up, a private vehicle shared by the group costs about twice a seat in a shared tour per person, and much less than per-person private prices. For 8 to 17 people, our minibus costs 280 EUR, 35 EUR each for eight and about 16.50 EUR each for seventeen.

Which hidden costs catch people out?

  • The guide at the car park. If the guide is not in your price, you will be offered one as soon as you arrive. Use the official guides' office, agree the price and the turning point first.
  • Lunch without a price. Ask for the menu and the price of each dish, the drinks and the table before you sit down, especially for grilled meat or trout sold by weight.
  • Entries. Le Paradis du Safran (150 MAD), Anima Garden (140 MAD adults) and the bio-aromatic garden (35 MAD adults) are never in a tour price that we know of. Le Paradis du Safran is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Shopping stops. Cooperatives and shops on the road are a normal part of the day, and buying is never required. Prices are rarely marked in the village shops; bargaining is normal.
  • The camel ride. Short rides are sold along the road; agree the price and the length of the ride first.
  • Tips. Not compulsory, never included. In Morocco it is customary to leave something for a driver or guide if you were happy with the day; give what feels right, directly to the person.
  • Payment fees and cash. A card or PayPal fee may apply to anything paid online; cash in dirhams avoids fees on the spot. Do not count on a cash machine in Setti Fatma.

Is it worth paying more for a private day?

It depends on your group and on what you want from the day. On your own, two people spend very little, but they spend time: finding the taxi rank, waiting for the car to fill, finding a guide and a return taxi. A shared tour takes that work away at a low price, with a fixed programme and other travellers in the van. A private day costs more for one or two people and becomes good value from four, because the price is per vehicle: you leave when you want, stop where you want and have a guide who walks at the pace of your slowest walker.

The honest limits of our offer: for one or two travellers on a budget, the grand taxi and shared tours are cheaper. Marketplaces allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before on most listings, where we ask 48 hours. And we ask a 50% deposit online, while some local agencies take nothing until the day. If those points matter more to you than a fixed, published price for a private vehicle with the guide included, another option will suit you better. If you are also weighing Ourika against other valleys, our comparison of Ourika, Ouzoud and Imlil covers distance and cost.

When you are ready, choose your date on our booking page, or send us your group size on WhatsApp at +212 661 454 738 and we will tell you the total before you pay anything.

Frequently asked questions

How much money should I take to the Ourika Valley?

On a private day with lunch booked, take cash in dirhams for drinks, tips and small purchases, plus any garden entry you plan (150 MAD at Le Paradis du Safran, 140 MAD at Anima). Going on your own, add the taxi fares, the guide (offers of 100 to 150 MAD) and lunch. Cash machines are rare beyond Tnine Ourika, so withdraw in Marrakech.

Is the waterfall guide included in the price?

On our private day trip and half day, yes: the local guide for the walk to the falls is included at every group size. On other tours it varies, and some local listings we looked at in November 2026 charge it on the spot. On your own, Wikivoyage reports offers of 100 to 150 MAD to the first fall; use the official guides' office in Setti Fatma.

Do I pay for the Ourika Valley in euros or dirhams?

With us, the 50% deposit is paid online in euros through PayPal, and the balance is paid in cash to your driver on the day. Everything you pay in the valley itself, taxis, guides, cafés, parking and small shops, is best paid in cash in dirhams. Cards are accepted in only a few places, Anima Garden among them.

Are there fees on top of your price?

Only the payment fee on the online deposit: PayPal charges 4.4% of the amount paid online plus 0.35 EUR, shown before you pay. On a 140 EUR day trip the deposit is 70 EUR and the fee about 3.43 EUR. The balance is paid in cash, with no fee. Lunch, drinks, tips and entries are the only other costs, and only if you want them.

Is a marketplace tour cheaper than booking direct?

Sometimes, especially shared group tours, which cost less per person than any private day. For private tours, compare like with like: the vehicle, the guide, lunch, and how many people share the car. Marketplaces keep a commission and allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before on most listings, more flexible than our 48 hours.

How much is a camel ride in the Ourika Valley?

In our camel package, the ride costs 15 EUR per person on top of the vehicle, 120 EUR for 1 to 7 people. Some farms along the road also sell short rides on the spot, at prices agreed with them; we could not find a reliable published figure, so agree the price and the length of the ride before you get on.
